Handling Tips

Service

BIB advises clients about methods of paving and the quantity of pavers needed.

Info on Pavers

BIB pavers are quality products constantly submitted to external and internal quality control. Before starting the installment of your pavement, please control the product on color, quantity and measurement. Claims are only handled before laying the bricks.

Color

Using natural raw resources means that differences in color may occur in one or more batches, since concrete is a natural product. For best result BIB advises:
Use bricks of different batches at the same time
Unpack bricks from top to bottom, and not horizontally
Be sure ordering sufficient material, with repeat orders color may vary
Keep the product labels, or note down the article number and production date

Sealer

To seal pavers of any sort you first have to clean the surface. This most likely means using a pressure washer. If no stains are present on the pavers then using chemicals is not necessary. A pressure washer will remove any dirt, grime and pesky weeds or moss that have grown up through the sand joints. If stains are present like irrigation rust or oil then use a cleaner specific to that stain.

Allow the pavers to dry for several days after cleaning. Most likely you will have to add new joint sand between the pavers. It is recommended to use polymeric sand. It can be poured onto the surface and brushed into the joints using a push broom. Once the joints are full, use a leaf blower held mostly parallel to the surface to remove any extra sand residue without blowing it out of the joints.

To seal pavers use a roller or garden type sprayer. Apply enough sealer so the surface looks wet. Cover the entire surface including the sand joints. Work in small areas at a time applying sealer evenly.

White mildew

Exposed to certain weather conditions white mildew may occur (calcium flowering). This will not affect the quality of your pavement and will vanish within a short time by rainfall. We discourage the use of a pressure hose, as this may damage the pavement and accelerate adhesion of dirt.BIB does not accept claims based on color difference and / or calcium flowering.

Compacting

Be sure using a clean vibrating plate avoiding stains
Always use clean sand when adding, ask a skilled professional for advise
Compact sand-concrete stabilization before the stabilization is hardened
Equip the vibrating plate with a rubber mat avoiding damage
Always compact when the pavement is clean and dry. Dampness may cause concrete stains
Concrete stains can be removed by using water generously directly after compacting

Maintenance

Best way to clean the pavement is scrubbing every now and then with a hard broom and clean water. For severe dirt, hardware stores offer several maintenance products.

Production process

Concrete pavers are manufactured in the BIB plant. The completely automated production process guarantees a product of consistent and dimensionally stable quality.
